xTool SafetyPro AP2 Air Purifier Overview and Features

The xTool SafetyPro AP2 Air Purifier is a substantial unit, standing over 50 centimeters tall. It offers manual control for use with virtually any laser (by manually turning it on and off when needed), or automatic operation when paired with xTool models like the xTool P2S, S1, M1 Ultra, and F1 Ultra. In automatic mode, the purifier starts as soon as engraving begins and adjusts its speed based on the material being engraved. The connection is seamless, using an included Bluetooth dongle that plugs into the engraving machine.

The unit is mounted on wheels, making it easy to move around. It feels very well made and looks like a very premium product..

The 6-stage filtration system

Behind the front panel lies a sophisticated 6-stage filtration system, capable of purifying the exhaust air to a level suitable for direct indoor release while still offering the option to vent outdoors.

The filtration stages include:

  1. SuperCyclone Filter – The initial stage uses cyclone separation to catch large particles, extending the life of the Pre-Filter. This washable and reusable filter reduces replacement costs.
  2. Pre-Filter – Captures 90% of visible particles.
  3. Medium Efficiency Filter – Removes 95% of fine dust particles as small as 0.3 micrometers.
  4. Activated Carbon Layer – Absorbs 85% of harmful fumes.
  5. Ultra-Dense Carbon Mesh – Eliminates up to 98% of odors.
  6. High-Efficiency HEPA Filter – Filters 99.97% of dust, allergens, and viruses.

The filter stack looks amazing and it is covered by a sleek magnetic panel and promises exceptional performance, which we’ll test later in the article.

Overview of The xTool SafetyPro IF2 Hyper Flow Inline Duct Fan

Before diving into the tests, let’s look at another impressive product: the xTool IF2 Hyper Flow Inline Duct Fan. This compact yet powerful fan is perfect for venting fumes over longer distances. It consists of two individual fan propellers inside which provide significant airflow.

It features a straightforward manual interface for turning it on and off and setting the speed but it also supports automatic operation via the included Bluetooth dongle which needs to be inserted in the compatible xTool engraver. The fan offers four speed settings, with even the lowest setting delivering significant airflow. At maximum speed, it can rival a leaf blower in blowing power. There is also an included mounting bracket which allows for wall installation.

Testing the xTool SafetyPro AP2 Air Purifier

To test the air purifier, I connected the included Bluetooth dongle to the purifier port on my xTool F1 Ultra. The purifier connected instantly, with the automatic connection LED lighting up and the purifier becomes visible in the software. The provided hose, which is one of the highest-quality hoses I’ve used, was easy to connect and felt durable.

For the first test, I was laser cutting wood and found that the exhaust air was completely odorless.

The ultimate test of the xTool AP2 smoke purifier

Then came the ultimate challenge: laser engraving leather. Anyone who has ever engraved leather, knows that it produces one of the strongest and most unpleasant odors. I deliberately chose poor cutting parameters to generate excessive smoke and charring.

Despite this, I couldn’t detect any burning leather smell in the exhaust fumes. The purifier performed exceptionally well, eliminating all odors completely. I am incredibly impressed by this! This proves that the filtration system does its job very well and it is well worth the price tag!
